OK. The plan is to read and then implement all the tutorials in this book Ha! I have spent a couple of afternoons reading through this and it is fascinating, but bloomin’ difficult. Having spent my entire professional career approaching geospatial from a geographical perspective, it is really interesting to see how a computer programmer would tackle it. It really makes me appreciate all the coding effort that goes into GUI GIS programs, both open source and proprietary.
It looks like PostGIS will be testing and that Mapnik would be a really good way to generate quick and simple output.
