Argh, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and BBC News eat into my time far too much. I need to be productive during the day, so that I can go Lindy Hopping at night (see OLH). So what is the easiest way to block these sites, at specific times, without messing around with all sorts of system wide changes (it’s my work machine, I’m an adult, I should be able to use will power!).
A great extension for the browser is Website Blocker. The options for this extension allow you to quickly and easily set a domain level block, or if needed a sub-domain block. You can then set up the times that you want to block that site e.g. 09:00-13:00, 13:30-17:00 during work days. If you really don’t have any will power and think that you might unblock the blocked sites, then you can get someone else to set the password for Website Blocker. Then you’re stuck with the options set.
